I was a speaker at PubCon today for a session on affiliate marketing.
I always struggle when speaking on affiliate marketing as it is what I do that supports 80% of my business. What do you share? What do you keep private? It is a hard line to walk.So, what I decided to do was give the same type of advice I received at PubCon over four years ago that really jump-started my campaigns. It wasn’t that I had to get smarter, I just had to DO stuff. Stop the whining, the bitching and the moaning and just get stuff done. It worked.

I own a franchisee and currently struggle with this same question when franchisees in my metro area ask what I am doing on the internet. On one hand I want to help them, but at the same time I have found that the nature of my business makes them my competitor.
I follow the “teach a man to fish” philosophy. Simply explaining what I do would only help them temporarily and they wouldnt really understand why anyways.

I have just started a small seo consultancy business and the steady income thing is not a major concern for me, as I have a lot of clients who pay in monthly installments. The one thing that I find hard is knowing when to stop work and when I can actually start it. I have a young family so time is a major issue for me.
