Blank PageRank on Toolbar
In what I just thought was a temporary glitch late yesterday, has turned into an ongoing problem and is worth alerting you to. Every site (Google included) shows a gray bar for the PageRank. Now with the recent update, it would make sense that they would go through a PageRank update across the board, which they do after each update. The PageRank tool has been down like this before. In the past, Google has done either a Toolbar update, or made some fixes that is couldn’t do without taking the PageRank information offline. As a former software tester, it just seemed natural to uninstall the Google Toolbar and reinstall. However, after doing so the PageRank information still failed to display. Google has a reputation of making major changes over a holiday weekend (it is Memorial Day weekend in the US). This is what we could be up against here, but my gut tells me that they are just doing some tweaks and are taking it down over the holiday weekend to get a few things fixed.
Remember, the power of PageRank has diminished over the past year, and it no longer packs the punch it once did, so this should not be a cause for alarm.
