You may have heard the early announcement this morning that Overture has struck again, acquiring Fast.
While it was announced that there would be consolidation between the three companies to make it easier to manage your paid inclusion and PPC campaigns with Overture, AltaVista, and Fast, there is always something else that is in the works, but it was left unsaid.
I spent the morning on the phone with various contacts, and while nothing can be confirmed, what was being talked about was that Overture was looking to have a strong relationship with professional search engine optimization firms (SEOs). As Google has distanced itself from SEOs, Overture is embracing them. According to once source, they look to expand their Ambassador account ($5,000.00+ per month) with SEOs by offering price breaks in paid inclusion for Fast and AltaVista when certain price levels are met. This will mean, that SEO companies will be able to offer discounts for paid inclusion.
What This Means To You: You will be given discounts to have your site included in Overture’s new paid inclusion system, which should include both Fast and AltaVista for one fee. Probably the same fee as one URL ($25 – $35) per year. The consumer keeps winning as search engine marketing keeps getting simpler and simpler.
Google Update: The Dance still has not started. Google has completed stopped spidering our sites, which is a normal indication of the Dance getting ready to start, but it hasn’t. This is equally frustrating as the end of the month is on Friday. Hang tight.
