Press Releases are a marketing tactic that continues to work strongly today. They are not complicated, nor are they intended to be. Here are some steps that are highly recommended:
- Pick a topic that is going to be NEWSWORTHY. I cannot stress that enough. Do NOT write a release about your new dog. Seriously, I had a client who wanted a press release about their new dog. Focus on being newsworthy about your business.
- Have your release professionally written. I recommend using Kevin Nunley. I have known him since 1998 and use him to write ever release we ever do. As good as he is, he is also very affordable too.
- Get it distributed. I highly recommend the Advanced Package (currently $249) with PRWeb distribution service. At that level of a package, you can choose multiple areas to target the release. Testing shows that Houston will be the most effective as the Houston Chronicle gets so well indexed that the majority of our press releases wind up in the top ten for our targeted keyword phrase for up to three solid weeks. Gerrid Smith, a member here, has used Traffic Planet, which is a $79 discounted service.
- Make sure you are submitting at least one press release per month. If you aren’t, you aren’t pushing your market hard enough.
- Once your release goes live, monitor which sites are hosting your press release in Google and you can then use black hat link tools like Scrapebox and/or XRumer to spam links to the releases.
